Our
Story

About Us

While the bushfires of 2024/25 were still burning, a group of locals representing all parts of the community came together and formed a volunteer committee we called the Kitchen Cabinet. We’ve been working together ever since.

GLOW is our response to a simple but urgent reality: Halls Gap needs visitors, and winter is quiet. The festival brings light, life, and activity to the town across eight weeks from late June to the end of August, celebrating community, culture, art, wellbeing, gastronomy, and adventure, while encouraging people to come and explore the stunning landscape of Gariwerd.

Now in its second year, GLOW has already proven what’s possible. In 2025, a cross section of individuals, community groups, and businesses came together to host over 400 events across the eight weeks. In 2026, we’re building on that foundation.

The town itself becomes the venue. The main street and central park are lit up at the heart of the festival, while local businesses, community groups, and individuals host a wide range of events and gatherings that fill the calendar, from live performances and workshops to special menus, exhibitions, and wellbeing activities.

A highlight of the program is a major interactive art installation by ACT Natimuk, presented during the winter school holidays to draw family audiences from near and far.

GLOW is a genuinely collaborative effort, bringing together the tourism, hospitality, arts, and wellbeing sectors with one shared goal: to bring people back to Halls Gap and support our community’s recovery.

Stay in touch, next year will be even bigger & better.
